Toronto-based Indo-Canadian filmmaker hopeful to win Oscar

“To Kill a Tiger,” set in a small Indian village, is nominated for the best documentary feature at the 2024 Academy Awards.

Toronto-based and Delhi-born filmmaker Nisha Pahuja says she’s hopeful that landing an Oscar nod for her documentary “To Kill a Tiger” will draw more viewers to its challenging story of a father seeking justice for the rape of his daughter. Pahuja says she believes her film has the ingredients to help inspire a positive change.
