After another targeted shooting in Surrey, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre criticizing the government’s approach to tackle violent crimes, said “Prime Minister (Mark) Carney has done nothing to repeal Liberal soft-on-crime policies that empower criminals to terrorize our people.”
The shooting incident, which is the latest in a series of targeted attacks, occurred at Sidhu Travel at Surrey’s York Business Centre sometime between Saturday and Monday morning.
Quoting RED FM story (Shots fired at business in Surrey’s York Business Centre, police suspect extortion) Poilievre on X posted “The Liberals’ Bill C-5 ended mandatory jail time for extortion with a weapon. Now, stories like this are an everyday occurrence. Prime Minister Carney has done nothing to repeal Liberal soft-on-crime policies that empower criminals to terrorize our people. Lock up the criminals and protect our communities.”
Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating a shooting at a local business, which authorities believe may be related to an ongoing extortion scheme.
On Monday, just after 9:30 a.m., SPS officers responded to a report of a possible attempted break-in at the business in the 12800 block of 80 Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered that the damage to the business’s door was from several gunshots. The officers had confirmed that no one was injured during the incident.
The SPS Frontline Investigative Support (FLIS) Team has taken over the investigation. Police are currently collecting evidence and canvassing the area for CCTV footage.
