Mini fridges sold on Amazon.ca are being recalled in Canada due to a potential fire hazard.
On Monday, Health Canada issued a recall for the AstroAI 4-Litre/6-Can Mini Fridge after it was found that the fridge’s electrical switch could short circuit and potentially cause a fire.
The recall affects over 32,000 units sold between January 2019 and March 2022.
The affected fridges come in various colours, including black, white, blue, and pink. The model number LY0204A is located on a label on the back of the unit. The nine-digit serial number starts with 19, 20, 21, 2201, 2202, or 2203. As of July 10, there have been no reports of incidents or injuries related to the product in Canada. Health Canada advises consumers to stop using the mini fridge immediately, verify the serial number, and contact AstroAI for a free replacement unit.
