1 in 3 B.C. Residents ‘Seriously’ considering leaving the Province due to cost of living pressures: Poll

Amid ongoing concerns about housing affordability and rising living costs, a recent Angus Reid poll reveals that over one-third of British Columbia residents are contemplating leaving the Province. The survey, conducted between May 24 and 30 with a random sample of over 1,200 respondents, found that approximately 36 percent are “seriously considering” relocating due to the high cost of housing.

The poll highlights regional differences, with residents in the Fraser Valley being the most likely to consider moving. Forty-two percent of Fraser Valley residents are seriously considering moving, compared to just 22 percent of those on Vancouver Island.

According to Angus Reid, 66 percent of respondents identified the cost of living and inflation as the most pressing issues in B.C., followed closely by health care and housing affordability concerns.
