A West Coast Express train collided with a pickup truck in Port Moody on Tuesday morning, leaving the vehicle’s driver with serious injuries.
The crash occurred just before 7:30 a.m. at the Reed Point Marina crossing. According to the Port Moody Police Department, the driver of the pickup truck “failed to yield at the train crossing and was struck by the westbound train.”
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and taken to the hospital with injuries that are considered serious but not life-threatening. No injuries were reported among the train passengers.
The collision caused a temporary disruption to the West Coast Express service. One train trip from Mission City Station was initially canceled but was later reinstated with a delay.
The CPKC Police Service is investigating the incident, as it has jurisdiction over the railway network where the collision took place.
