Walmart Canada has announced price reductions on hundreds of products, but a retail analyst is advising shoppers to be cautious and do their research. Analyst Bruce Winder warns that while Walmart may appear to offer the lowest prices, it’s important for consumers to compare deals with other retailers to ensure they’re getting true savings. He suggests the price cuts could be influenced by ongoing trade tensions and a growing “buy Canadian” sentiment, noting that other companies are making similar moves.
On Monday, Walmart Canada revealed that it has been lowering prices on essential items since February, aiming to ease the financial burden on consumers. These products include fresh fruits and vegetables, toilet paper, bottled water, cheese, ground beef, and shampoo. The company also promised to maintain a steady supply of these items.
Additionally, Walmart Canada said it has introduced over 8,000 new “rollbacks” — deeper price cuts — in categories like clothing, electronics, health and wellness, and more since early June. Shoppers can expect to find thousands of these rollback deals both in-store and online each week.
