Long-time Victoria radio broadcaster Al Ferraby has been charged with two counts of child luring.

Court documents indicate Ferraby, the CFAX 1070 host, faces one count of telecommunicating to lure a child under 16 and another count of telecommunicating to lure a child under 18. The alleged incidents reportedly took place in Victoria and Vancouver.

Ferraby has been with CFAX since 1994. The station, owned by Bell Media—which also owns CTV News—confirmed his suspension pending a police investigation, stating, “We are aware of the charges and can confirm that he has been suspended. We have no further comment at this time.”

The charges stem from an investigation by the Vancouver Police Department’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit that began in September 2024. VPD said a 59-year-old man was arrested in February, and the B.C. Prosecution Service approved charges on Wednesday.

Ferraby is a well-known media personality in Greater Victoria, frequently performing the national anthem at sporting events and volunteering with local charities. He has since been released from police custody.
