Vancouver Police have released pictures appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a suspect linked to multiple early-morning residential break-ins across the city’s west side. Authorities are also urging residents to take extra precautions by ensuring their doors and windows are secured to prevent further crimes.

“We are actively working to identify and arrest this suspect, who is linked to break-ins throughout Marpole, Kerrisdale, Arbutus Ridge, Oakridge, and Shaughnessy,” stated Constable Tania Visintin. “Until we find him, we’re asking people to take extra precautions and to call police immediately if you encounter him.”

The suspect, described as an Asian man in his 30s, has committed 16 break-ins since January. As per police officials suspect typically gains entry into homes through unlocked doors late at night or in the early morning hours, often when residents are inside. He is known to wear blue gloves and a medical mask to conceal his face, and his targets often include cash or other valuables left in plain sight.

“This brazen behavior is concerning because it’s occurring when people are at home in their beds,” Constable Visintin added. “Although nobody has been hurt, the fact this suspect is entering homes at night is frightening.”

Police believe the suspect may reside within the affected area and travels through the neighborhoods on foot during the night. He is usually seen wearing a dark baseball cap, a dark hooded jacket, dark pants, and dark running shoes. The most recent incident took place around 3:30 a.m. at a residence near Marguerite Street and West 41st Avenue.

All reported incidents have occurred within the geographical boundaries of West 16th Avenue to the north, West 70th Avenue to the south, Oak Street to the east, and Elm Street to the west.

In response to the ongoing concerns, Vancouver Police have increased patrols in the affected neighborhoods, conducted extensive canvassing for video surveillance and witnesses, and initiated other investigative measures.
