Langley RCMP impounded two motorcycles yesterday after officers stopped them in separate incidents of overspeeding.

The first incident occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. near 216 Street and 58 Avenue. An officer saw a white motorcycle traveling at 124 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. The bike’s license plate was also illegible. The rider was ticketed for overspeed and an illegible plate, and the motorcycle was impounded for seven days.

The second incident took place around 7:54 p.m. near 200 Street and 88 Avenue. The same officer observed a black motorcycle weaving unsafely between vehicles at an estimated speed of 143 km/h. This rider was also issued violation tickets for overspeed and unsafe lane changes, leading to a seven-day impoundment of their motorcycle.

Sergeant Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP stated, “Speed and reckless maneuvers on a motorcycle leave little margin for error. At those speeds, you’re not only risking your own life but the lives of everyone else on the road.” He urged riders to be responsible, emphasizing that speed can be the “difference between life and death.”
