Toyota is recalling more than 70,000 vehicles in Canada across over a dozen models due to a software issue affecting display panels, which the company warns could increase the risk of a crash.
According to Canada’s motor vehicle safety recalls database, the problem may prevent the instrument panel’s combination meter from displaying when the vehicle starts. As a result, critical information such as the speedometer, fuel gauge, warning lights, and malfunction indicators may not appear.
The recall applies to vehicles equipped with a 12.3-inch display. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail and advised to visit a dealership for a software update to the combination meter. In some cases, the combination meter may need to be replaced.
The following makes, models, and years are impacted:
Lexus: LS (2024–25), RX 500h (2025), TX (2024)
Toyota: Camry (2024), Crown (2023–25), Crown Signia (2025), GR Corolla (2024), Grand Highlander (2024–25), Highlander (2023–24), RAV4 (2023–25), RAV4 Prime (2023–24), Tacoma (2024), Venza (2023–24)
Toyota and Hyundai also issued a similar recall this week in the U.S., covering 1.1 million vehicles, over issues related to instrument panel displays and seat belts.
