A third arrest has been made in connection with the shooting that killed a 21-year-old Mohawk College student.
Harsimrat Randhawa, an international student from India, was fatally struck by a stray bullet while waiting for a bus near Upper James Street and South Bend Road around 7:30 p.m. on April 17. Police said she had just left a nearby gym and was on her way home when a single bullet hit her during a gunfight between two groups.
On Tuesday, Hamilton police announced that 29-year-old Jaiyden Jones was arrested on September 8 with assistance from Toronto police. He has been charged with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder and appeared in a Hamilton court the same day.
Previously, police arrested 32-year-old Jerdaine Foster, who faces the same charges as Jones, and 26-year-old Obiesea Okafor, who is charged with three counts of attempted murder.
Investigators continue to search for additional suspects, noting that at least seven individuals were involved in the gunfight that night.
