The epidemic of diabetes and obesity in South-Asian community


New Canadian research suggests putting on weight could present potentially more serious problems for people of South Asian origin compared with other populations.

The findings may help explain why South Asians, Canada’s largest visible minority population, are more likely to develop cardiovascular disease than white populations, even if they have similar body mass indexes. Dr. Sharry Kahlon and Dr. Birinder Mangat talks to Harjinder Thind about different aspects of diabetes and how it can be prevented, or managed.
