A middle school in Williams Lake, B.C., was briefly placed in a hold and secure after a staff member was injured in an incident involving a teenager.

RCMP say officers responded to Columneetza Junior Secondary School on Thursday after a 15-year-old allegedly assaulted a staff member. Other staff intervened and restrained the teen until police arrived and took the suspect into custody.

As a precaution, the school was temporarily placed under a hold and secure, but police say no other suspects were involved. The measure has since been lifted, and students and staff are safe.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police say a motive has not yet been determined.
