Abbotsford police responded to a shooting in a residential neighbourhood on Friday afternoon.
Sgt. Paul Walker of the Abbotsford Police Department confirmed that officers were called to a home in the 3200 block of Siskin Drive shortly after 12:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, police found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, he died at the scene. “This incident, I want to stress, is not extortion-related,” Walker said. “It is connected to the B.C. gang conflict. The individual is known to police and linked to that conflict.”
Walker added that the shooting was targeted, but authorities are not releasing the victim’s identity at this time. The investigation has been handed over to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. Siskin Drive remains closed between Sandpiper Drive and Stellar Court as police continue their work.
“This is always a concern for us whenever there is a shooting or a homicide in the city,” Walker said.
