The Canadian Union of Postal Workers says Canada Post has cancelled a scheduled meeting between the two sides today.
According to the union, the corporation called off the talks, saying it needed more time to review the union’s latest comprehensive proposals. No new date has been set for negotiations to resume.
This is the second time in the past week that Canada Post has cancelled a meeting, citing the need for additional time to analyze the offers.
Earlier this month, union members voted overwhelmingly to reject the company’s latest proposals, saying they failed to address their needs. As a result, the union is continuing its nationwide overtime ban.
Canada Post says it remains committed to the collective bargaining process and to reaching an agreement with CUPW.
