Suspect in Brampton fatal shooting, child abduction Killed by police

A suspect in the alleged killing of a woman in Brampton and the subsequent abduction of a child has been killed in an officer-involved shooting.

Authorities stated that 38-year-old Anthony Deschepper, who allegedly shot and killed a woman in Brampton, Ont., on Tuesday before abducting his one-year-old child, died Wednesday morning following an “officer-involved shooting,” in which shots were exchanged.

In a news release, police said that at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers located Anthony in a vehicle at a gas station near Thorold Stone and Montrose roads in Niagara Falls.

The police stated that the Niagara Police Emergency Task Unit became involved, and “following an interaction with officers,” Deschepper was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the news release, no officers were injured, and police remain at the scene.

Police had been searching for Deschepper since Tuesday afternoon in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman in a Brampton plaza parking lot in the area of Queen Street E. and Airport Road. Police had said on Tuesday that he allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle with his child in the back seat.
