A gunman is believed to be dead after opening fire Monday evening near a corporate office building in midtown Manhattan, injuring at least one NYPD officer and two civilians, multiple law enforcement sources told CNN.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed on X that the situation is “contained” and the “lone shooter has been neutralized.” One source reported seeing a man with a long rifle enter the building.

According to officials, one civilian is in critical condition, while another civilian and the officer—who was shot in the back—are expected to survive. The injured officer, assigned to a Bronx precinct, had been stationed near the building when the shooting began.
The incident took place at 345 Park Avenue, a 634-foot skyscraper that houses corporate offices for the NFL and Blackstone. The building spans an entire city block and is one of only 41 in New York City with its own ZIP code.
