A suspect has been arrested after a woman was allegedly groped on a transit bus in Vancouver, police say.

The incident happened just after 8 a.m. on June 9 aboard a crowded 99-B Line bus on West Broadway, according to a news release from Metro Vancouver Transit Police issued Wednesday.

Police report that the suspect, who did not know the woman, boarded the bus and stood directly behind her. While the bus was in motion, he allegedly made unwanted sexual contact with her.” Two female passengers witnessed the incident and confronted the suspect, who then fled the bus,” said Sgt. Dustin Szakacs in the release.

Investigators were able to identify and arrest the man, and have recommended a charge of sexual assault to Crown counsel. The suspect has since been released under multiple conditions, including a prohibition from riding Vancouver transit buses, as he awaits his upcoming court appearance.
