Following an evening of senseless destruction that saw 14 vehicles and one business targeted, the New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) has successfully apprehended a suspect.

The NWPD is investigating a series of overnight incidents in the West End where 14 car windows and a business window were smashed.

Police reported that officers were first dispatched to the 1500 block of Dublin Street at approximately 11:45 p.m. following a report of a car alarm.

The vehicle’s owner discovered their window had been smashed. Shortly after, witnesses reported seeing someone riding a bicycle down the street and damaging vehicles.

Approximately two hours later, officers were called to a business on 12th Street after the owner reported seeing a man on a bicycle kick out the glass from the front window. Immediately following this report, officers located and arrested a suspect near Edinburgh Street and Henley Street.
