Surrey trucker dies in head-on collision near Lytton

A 49-year-old man from Surrey has died following a collision between two tractor-trailer trucks just north of Lytton, British Columbia. Investigators are now seeking additional witnesses and video evidence to determine the cause of the crash.

Police reported that on November 24, shortly before 9:00 a.m., a blue northbound Kenworth tractor-trailer (pulling two empty flat-deck trailers) collided with a southbound green Volvo tractor-trailer (pulling two closed trailers) on Highway #1 at the Tank Hill Bridge.

The driver of the southbound Volvo was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the northbound Kenworth, a 38-year-old man from Chilliwack, was transported to the hospital with injuries.

Corporal Michael McLaughlin of the BC Highway Patrol stated, “Several key witnesses have already spoken to police, and investigators are examining the driving behavior of both truck drivers prior to the crash.”

The investigation into the collision’s cause is ongoing.
