Authorities are reporting a significant spike in vandalism targeting public transit infrastructure across the region. In the city of Surrey alone, 14 bus shelters along 152nd Street, between 26th Avenue and 86th Avenue, have had their glass panels shattered this month. Metro Vancouver Transit Police noted that this trend is not isolated to Surrey, as similar incidents have also surged in Burnaby and New Westminster.

Investigators believe the damage is being caused by a small projectile used to strike and shatter the glass. Across the Metro Vancouver area, more than three dozen bus shelters have been damaged using this identical method, suggesting a deliberate and coordinated pattern of destruction.

Transit officials have condemned the acts, stating that the vandalism is not only a costly drain on public property but also poses a serious safety risk to commuters waiting for buses. Metro Vancouver Transit Police are now appealing to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information or dashcam footage from the affected areas to come forward.
