Surrey Police Investigating Overnight Shooting in Newton

Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating a shooting at a residence in the Newton neighbourhood that occurred early Wednesday morning. 

Officers responded around 1:30 a.m. on January 7, 2026, to reports of gunfire in the 12300 block of 77A Avenue. Upon arrival, police found a home that had sustained damage, but fortunately, no one was injured. 

The SPS Frontline Investigative Support Team (FLIST) is leading the investigation, which remains in its early stages. Authorities are gathering evidence, including liaising with other police agencies to determine whether the incident is connected to a series of ongoing extortion cases in Surrey.
