After charging a south Asian male for sexual assault, Surrey police are asking witnesses to come forward in connection with a series of sexual assaults in the city last week.

Jatinder Singh Gill, a 33-year-old man, has been charged with one count of sexual assault and two counts of assault. He is currently remanded in custody until his next appearance on June 13, 2025.

According to the Surrey Police Service, on June 5, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a woman disembarked a bus and was walking west along 72 Avenue from 132 Street when she was approached from behind by an unknown man and allegedly sexually assaulted. Police stated that the victim managed to escape from the stranger and call for help.

In a statement on Wednesday, Sgt. Tige Pollock said, “While police were arriving, the same man approached another woman who was standing at the nearby bus stop and allegedly assaulted her. Police arrived a short time later and took the man into custody.”

The SPS further stated that during the investigation into these two incidents, investigators were alerted to another alleged assault that had occurred earlier the same day. Police reported that around 2:30 p.m. that afternoon, they were called to reports of an assault along 72 Avenue near 130 Street.

Pollock added, “A woman reported that she was approached and assaulted by a man unknown to her. Police are investigating potential links between this incident and the incidents that occurred later that night, a short distance away.”
