Families in Surrey can now access preschool spots for just $10 per day, thanks to a provincial partnership. Programs, running from September to June, are available at city recreation facilities with flexible schedules designed to support families.
“We know how hard it is for families to find affordable child care,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “Thanks to this provincial partnership, more families can access preschool and get the care they need without delay.”
Provincial funding helps provide the $10-a-day programs at Cloverdale Mini Recreation Centre and Fraser Heights Recreation Centre through the Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement. The City also has nine applications in progress to expand the program to additional city-run preschool facilities.
Surrey’s preschool programs are led by qualified early childhood educators and follow the B.C. Early Learning Framework, emphasizing learning through play and a smooth transition to kindergarten.
