Surrey moves to open two city-backed medical clinics by 2026

Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke says residents are facing long waits for health care due to a shortage of family doctors, prompting the city to begin plans for two municipally supported medical clinics. Talking to RED FM News Director Harjinder Thind, she said that the clinics are expected to open by 2026 and would be developed and operated in partnership with B.C.-based Total Life Care Granville Medical. City staff will negotiate clinic locations and focus on recruiting and retaining health care professionals to address the growing demand.
