‘Super 6’ cricket tournament to unite Nepali-Canadian community

The Himalayan Cricket Club is hosting the second Super 6 Cricket Tournament at North Surrey Community Park on Sunday (September 14). The event aims to be a vibrant celebration of sport and culture, bringing together the Nepali-Canadian community from across the Lower Mainland. The action will kick off with the first match at 7:30 a.m.

The tournament will feature eight teams competing in a fast-paced format with just six overs per inning, promising big hits and thrilling moments for both seasoned fans and newcomers.

The teams participating in the tournament include: Everest Grizzlies, Jhilkey Canucks, Thorny Rhinos, Vancouver Red, Vancouver Blue, Himalayan Goats, Maple Rhinos and Victorians.

“This tournament isn’t just about cricket—it’s about community, culture, and connection,” said Jesis Subba, co-founder of the Himalayan Cricket Club. “Surrey is one of the fastest-growing cricket hubs in Canada, and we’re proud to showcase incredible local talent through the Super 6.”

Subba said “spectators are invited to enjoy a full day of cricket, along with community food stalls and cultural festivities. The event is open to families, sports fans, and those new to the sport.”
