On January 7, 2026, at about 6:57 a.m., Langley RCMP were called to a structure fire in the 6500 block of 248 Street.
When Township of Langley firefighters arrived, the building was already fully ablaze. Inside, crews discovered a 15-year-old who had died in the fire.
“This is a heartbreaking tragedy, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased during this incredibly difficult time,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause, but police say there is currently no evidence of criminal involvement. The BC Coroners Service and fire investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
