Police in Surrey have launched an investigation after an incident of shots being fired by unidentified individuals in the Guildford neighborhood on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 11 a.m., near 152 Street and 96b Avenue in a residential area of Guildford.

Members of the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) responded to the scene and located numerous shell casings.

Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident, according to the Surrey Police Service.

Media Relations Officer Sergeant Tige Pollock stated on Sunday that the investigation is in its very early stages. Police cannot yet confirm if there’s a connection to the ongoing extortion-related shootings that have been targeting the South Asian business community for several months.

Members of the RCMP SPOSU General Investigation Unit (GIU) are assisting with the investigation at the scene.

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) and SPOSU are urging any witnesses to the incident, or anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to contact the Surrey Police Service.
