Shots fired in South Surrey; police suspect link to extortion

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating an early morning shooting in South Surrey that is believed to be connected to an ongoing extortion investigation.

Police responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 3:50 a.m. today in the 14300 block of 28 Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found several spent shell casings on the street. No injuries were reported, and it does not appear that any homes were damaged.

The SPS Frontline Investigation Support (FLIS) Team is on the scene and has taken charge of the investigation.

Investigators believe this incident is linked to a current extortion case.
