Police in multiple B.C. communities are investigating reports of possible Halloween candy tampering after several parents discovered sharp objects hidden in their children’s treats.

In Delta, police say a parent reported finding a sewing needle sticking out of a candy bar on Sunday, November 2, 2025. The child was not injured. The family had been trick-or-treating in the area of 75th Avenue and 113th Street to 118th Street and 74B Avenue.

Delta Police are urging parents to carefully inspect all Halloween candy before allowing children to eat it. Anyone who finds something suspicious is asked to contact the Delta Police non-emergency line at 604-946-4411.

Meanwhile, Prince George RCMP have received multiple reports of tampered candy, with sewing needles or pins found in treats collected in the Bittner Road West and Bachinski Crescent area.

In Surrey, police are also investigating after a metal staple was discovered inside a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. The Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit responded to a call shortly after 2 p.m. on November 1, when a parent reported finding the staple in candy gathered while trick-or-treating in the Clayton Heights area between 188 and 190 Streets and 70–72 Avenues.

Surrey Police are working to determine where the candy came from and whether tampering occurred. Parents are again reminded to check all Halloween treats before consumption and to report any suspicious items to the Surrey Police Service non-emergency line at 604-599-0502.
