Surrey – Just one day after a shooting rocked the Reflection Banquet Hall in Surrey, a second violent attack has struck another business linked to the same owner — raising serious concerns of an alleged organized extortion plot targeting members of the South Asian community.

On Monday night, gunshots were fired at O Hub, a business located at 128 Street and 70 Avenue in Surrey. The establishment is owned by Satish Kumar, who also owns Reflection Banquet Hall and serves as the President of Laxmi Narayan Mandir, a prominent religious institution in the area.

According to Satish Kumar, the same group of shooters who targeted Reflection Banquet Hall are now demanding $2 million in extortion from him. The attackers reportedly opened fire at O Hub late last night, marking the second violent episode in less than 24 hours.

Satish Kumar has confirmed that he received threatening calls from the individuals behind the shootings. He also shared that he had heated verbal altercations with the callers, who not only made extortion demands but also issued warnings of continued attacks unless the money is paid.

In a disturbing revelation, Satish alleged that some individuals within the local community may be aiding the shooters by providing inside information about his businesses and movements. “This is not just a personal attack — this is a threat to the safety and unity of our entire community,” he said.

What Happened at Reflection Banquet Hall?

The violence began on Saturday morning around 2:30 am when multiple gunshots were fired at the Reflection Banquet Hall, located near 152 Street and 66 Avenue. The banquet hall was reportedly closed at the time of the shooting, and no injuries were reported.

Police were called to the scene two days after, and an investigation into the shooting and its connection to extortion demands was launched. Authorities have yet to confirm whether both incidents are being treated as linked criminal acts, but community leaders and insiders say the pattern is too clear to ignore.

Community Urged to Unite

Satish Kumar has called on local residents and community organizations to stand together against rising threats of extortion and targeted violence. “This is a wake-up call. If we don’t come together now, more people and businesses may become targets,” he said.

While investigations are ongoing, the Surrey RCMP is urging anyone with information on the shooters or the extortion threats to come forward. Surveillance footage from both incidents is currently being reviewed, and increased patrols are expected in the area.

As fear grows among local business owners, community leaders are expected to hold an emergency meeting in the coming days to discuss safety measures, cooperation with law enforcement, and collective strategies to counter such criminal activities.
