Rescue crews searching for missing individuals after a rockfall along a hiking trail in Banff National Park have located a second body.
According to Parks Canada and the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police), the body was recovered earlier today, and the victim’s family is being notified.
The initial victim, a 70-year-old woman from Calgary, was found after Thursday’s rockfall at Bow Glacier Falls, situated north of Lake Louise.
Three other people sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital, where they remain in stable condition. Authorities confirmed that no additional individuals are currently unaccounted for, and there were no unidentified vehicles found at the trailhead.
Rescue efforts included the use of aircraft equipped with infrared sensors to search through the debris. A geotechnical engineer was also brought in to evaluate the stability of the surrounding mountainside.
