Police in Fraser Lake, B.C., say a reported threat against Fraser Lake Elementary Secondary School was thoroughly investigated and found to be unfounded, with no risk to students or staff.

RCMP said they received the complaint Thursday night and conducted an overnight investigation, determining the threat was not credible. Officers were at the school Friday morning as a precaution to answer questions and help ensure a smooth start to the day. Staff Sgt. Kris Clark said police are aware of misinformation circulating online and want to reassure the community that the school is safe.

In a separate incident, a lockdown at Sherwood School in southeast Calgary was lifted Monday after a student allegedly made threats to harm others. Police said they were called to the elementary school just before 11:30 a.m., prompting the lockdown. Officers located the student and cleared the property. No weapon was found, and authorities say there is no ongoing risk to students, staff or the public.
