Earlier in the day, Centennial Secondary was placed in lockdown before the measure was downgraded to a hold-and-secure, according to School District 43.

In an online statement, the district said the decision was made on the advice of the RCMP and emphasized that the action was precautionary. Officials noted that further updates would be provided as they become available.

The district also confirmed that GOAL and Vanier were put under hold-and-secure orders after a threat was reported to multiple schools.

This is the third straight day Centennial has enacted safety protocols following reported threats earlier in the week. School District 43 reiterated that the measures were taken out of an abundance of caution.

Coquitlam RCMP said they continue to receive reports of alleged threats targeting schools in the city. On February 6, 2026, additional reports prompted further safety measures and a swift police response to protect students and staff.

To date, investigators say there is no evidence indicating that anyone at the schools was in danger. Police stressed that they follow established procedures when responding to such reports, prioritizing safety even when threats are unverified.

“We understand the concern and frustration these incidents may cause,” said RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Adriana O’Malley. “These types of threats are often intended to create fear and draw attention. Sharing unverified information can lead to further disruption.”

The RCMP’s General Investigation Section is leading the ongoing probes, working closely with the school district. Police also reminded the public that filing a false report is a criminal offence and said efforts are underway to identify those responsible.
