Popular Punjabi comedian Jaswinder Bhalla passed away in Mohali on Friday morning. He was 65 years old. His funeral will be held on Saturday near Mohali.

Reports indicate that Jaswinder had been ill for some time and was hospitalized. His death is being mourned by his film industry colleagues and fans.

Friends and doctors of Jaswinder Bhalla revealed that the actor suffered a brain stroke on the evening of August 20 and was taken to Fortis Hospital in Mohali. He lost a significant amount of blood during his treatment and passed away on Friday, August 22, at 4:35 a.m. His close friend, Bal Mukand Sharma, confirmed the details.

Jaswinder had been a prominent figure in Punjabi television since the 1990s and was a central figure in the Punjabi comedy scene. In recent years, he gained immense popularity for his role as Advocate Dhillon in the Carry On Jatta film franchise. He was also known for his character Chacha Chatta in the Chhankata series, which became widely popular in Punjab through home video cassettes.

His unique ability to present social issues in a witty and humorous way made him a beloved figure in the Punjabi entertainment industry. He was a key figure in the resurgence of the industry in the early 2000s, especially in the comedy genre. Born in 1960, he also served as a professor in the Department of Extension Education at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) until 2020.
