Investigators with the federal RCMP’s illicit drug lab unit seized several kilograms of suspected fentanyl during raids on three Metro Vancouver properties, the agency announced Wednesday.
The RCMP’s Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response (CLEAR) Team carried out the searches on Sept. 14.
According to the RCMP, officers recovered eight handguns and five long guns—including a .50-calibre rifle—from two Surrey properties, one of which is believed to have contained a synthetic drug lab.
Police also found hundreds of rounds of ammunition, 14 kilograms of fentanyl, and more than 200 litres of chemical precursors used to produce the drug GHB.
A separate search at a Richmond home uncovered more drugs and $86,000 in cash. One person was arrested in connection with the Richmond search but was later released without charges as the investigation continues, said Sgt. Tammy Lobb of the Pacific region RCMP.
