RCMP investigates shooting incident in North Surrey; suspect in custody

The Surrey RCMP’s Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) has launched an investigation following a shooting incident in North Surrey late last night.

According to official reports, gunfire was heard in the vicinity of 111 Avenue and 160 Street at approximately 12:30 AM. A local resident contacted emergency services after hearing the shots and reporting that a “distraught” individual had appeared at their front door.

Officers from the RCMP SPOSU arrived on the scene promptly and took the suspect into custody without further incident.

During a forensic sweep of the area, investigators recovered several spent bullet casings. The gunfire resulted in damage to two vehicles and two residential homes. Police have confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident.

The General Investigation Unit (GIU) has now taken the lead on the case. Investigators are currently canvassing the neighborhood and reviewing CCTV and dashcam footage to determine the motive behind the shooting and establish a full timeline of events.

Surrey RCMP is urging anyone with information or additional video footage from the 111 Avenue and 160 Street area to come forward.
