B.C.’s police watchdog, the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of B.C., has been called in to investigate a collision involving a police cruiser and a motorcycle that reportedly occurred in Penticton on Halloween.
The motorcyclist told investigators that he was stopped by police while driving on Green Mountain Road sometime between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. last Friday. The collision reportedly occurred somewhere between a gas station and a storage centre, and the man was released by police following the crash.
The IIO is now investigating the incident to determine if any serious harm was caused and, if so, whether there is a connection between that harm and any action or inaction by the officer involved.
