An undisclosed police incident briefly led to the closure of the SFU campus on Burnaby Mountain Thursday afternoon.

The university reported that the roadway to campus was shut around 12:30 p.m. while police investigated “an incident affecting the university.” A notification sent via the university’s alert app described the situation as an “active threat (bomb).”

CCTV footage from the intersection of Gaglardi Way and University Drive showed police blocking the road and redirecting traffic.

The road was reopened before 2 p.m.

SFU stated that there was “no danger to the campus community.” In the meantime, the university advised people to avoid the area and follow emergency responders’ instructions.

Bus service up the mountain was suspended, according to TransLink.
