Integrated Homicide Investigations Team (IHIT) have identified latest Surrey shooting victim as a local businessman and wedding photographer Baljinder Binder Garcha.
Shortly after noon on Tuesday, Surrey Police Service officers responded to reports of an injured man near a property on 176 Street, just north of Grandview Heights. Upon arrival, officers located the man, who was later pronounced dead at the scene. IHIT took over the case shortly afterward.

IHIT media relations officer Cpl Sukhi Dhesi said that the investigation is in early stages but investigators do not believe the killing is connected to the B.C. gang conflict. “We are working diligently to understand the circumstances that led to the death of Mr. Garcha. We are asking anyone with information to please come forward and speak with investigators,” added Cpl Dhesi.
Police also located a burning vehicle Tuesday afternoon on 40 Avenue near 192 Street, which investigators believe may be related to the shooting of Binder Garcha.
IHIT is asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has CCTV or dashcam footage from either area between 10 am and 1 pm to contact investigators at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448).
