Police have arrested an armed man in South Surrey (District 5).
Authorities reported that yesterday, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Surrey Police Service (SPS) was notified by Richmond RCMP about a man allegedly armed with a firearm in a residence near 158 Street and 20 Avenue, Surrey.
SPS members responded to the area and contained the residence with assistance from the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service (IPDS) and RCMP Lower Mainland Urban Patrol Helicopter (AIR1).
Officials stated that SPS negotiators made contact with the man, and following successful discussions, he exited his residence and was arrested.
The SPS Frontline Investigative Support Team (FLIST) was contacted and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
The man is currently in custody, and the investigation continues.
