Dozens of passengers were evacuated using emergency slides from a WestJet plane at Vancouver International Airport on Saturday night after a small engine fire.

Federal investigators have been deployed to the airport following the incident, which involved a WestJet flight arriving from the United States. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada reported that the event occurred late Saturday as the aircraft reached its gate.

A spokesperson for WestJet confirmed that the plane, which had flown in from Tampa, Florida, experienced a small tailpipe fire in one of its engines shortly after shutting down. Crews quickly deployed inflatable evacuation slides to safely get 50 passengers off the aircraft. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
