One of Canada’s most wanted fugitives is now in custody.

Montreal police confirmed that 39-year-old Pierry Philogène was arrested Tuesday evening in Surrey, B.C. He is accused of first-degree murder in the December 22, 2021, killing of Charles-Olivier Boucher Savard in Montreal.

Metro Vancouver Transit Police said the arrest followed a public tip and involved a brief foot chase, with assistance from Vancouver police. Officers also discovered fake identification during the search. Philogène now faces additional charges for obstructing a peace officer and possessing identity documents without lawful excuse.

He will be transferred to Montreal to face the murder charge.

Philogène was listed among six Quebecers on Canada’s top 25 most wanted list under the federal BOLO program. He was also a suspect in Project Alliance, a joint investigation by Montreal police and the Sûreté du Québec targeting organized crime–related murders. The June 12 operation led to the arrest of 11 suspects, including alleged Montreal Mafia leader Leonardo Rizzuto and his associate Stefano Sollecito.
