One dead in Langley Township crash

One person has died following a two-vehicle crash in Langley Township on Monday evening.

Langley RCMP officers responded to a report of a collision on 256 Street near 48 Avenue at approximately 6:20 p.m. Images from the scene show both cars, which were heavily damaged, had gone off the road.

Despite life-saving efforts, one driver died at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours while members of the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) investigated.

“The circumstances leading to this tragic collision remain under investigation, but impairment has been ruled out,” Mounties said in a statement. They added that this was the fifth fatal collision in the area in six weeks.
