PORT RENFREW, BC – The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) has launched a suspicious death investigation in Port Renfrew, B.C., with one individual already arrested at the scene.
Authorities report that on June 23, shortly after 9:00 p.m., Sooke RCMP responded to a call regarding a man found with blood on him near Pachidah Road in Port Renfrew. Upon arrival, police located an injured man who was later pronounced deceased despite life-saving measures. Initial findings led investigators to believe the death was suspicious and is being treated as a homicide. VIIMCU was then contacted and has since taken charge of the investigation.
BC RCMP spokesperson Corporal Alex Bérubé stated that evidence collected at this early stage of the investigation suggests this was an isolated incident.
