An Oliver woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal collision that occurred exactly one year ago in the South Okanagan, which resulted in the death of a 39-year-old man.
According to officials, the incident took place on July 31, 2024, just before 8:00 a.m., when a Toyota Echo and a Ford Explorer collided on Highway #97 near Road 21 in Oliver, BC. The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota Echo was killed in the crash.
After a nine-month investigation, BC Highway Patrol – Keremeos submitted a report to the BC Prosecution Service (BCPS), which approved three charges against 30-year-old Vanessa Lameiras, including impaired and dangerous driving.
Lameiras was arrested on July 31, 2025, and made her first court appearance on August 6, 2025.
“Investigations take time, and it’s important to update the community when they are complete,” said Corporal Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol.
