In response to comments from Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, British Columbia’s Deputy Premier Niki Sharma stated that there is still no prospective buyer for the existing TMX pipeline, which is owned by Canadian taxpayers.
Poilievre had said that Canadians want a new oil pipeline and that Premier David Eby cannot be allowed to block the project.
Eby has repeatedly said there is no point in discussing or supporting a pipeline until there is a proponent for such a project.
Poilievre claims that the reason there is no proponent is because there has been inadequate government support.
