The Province has announced that a new, 605-seat elementary school will be constructed in New Westminster. Premier David Eby emphasized the project’s benefits, stating, “A safer, modern school gives parents peace of mind and it gives children a place to learn and have fun.”
The new downtown school is designed to be a three-storey building and will include underground parking, four kindergarten classrooms, and 21 elementary classrooms to accommodate 605 students. MLA Jennifer Whiteside welcomed the news, noting that the state-of-the-art facility will help ease pressure on existing schools and provide more opportunities for local children.
The provincial government is committing nearly $65 million to the project. Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2026.
