Consumers are being advised not to eat the pistachio and knafeh milk chocolate from the brand Dubai, as it may be contaminated with salmonella.
The affected product (145 g, UPC 6 11834 51237 1, Code 225.174) was sold online in Quebec.
Anyone in possession of the recalled chocolate should avoid consuming, serving, using, selling, or distributing it. “The recalled products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase,” says the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
Although food contaminated with salmonella may appear normal in taste and smell, it can still cause illness. Infants, pregnant individuals, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.
Common symptoms of salmonella infection include fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea.
In some cases, long-term health issues like severe arthritis may develop. Anyone experiencing symptoms after eating the recalled product is advised to seek medical attention.
