Man charged in 2024 Surrey home break-in incident

A man faces multiple Criminal Code charges following a Surrey Police Service (SPS) investigation into a residential break-in on November 29, 2024, where over $200,000 worth of luxury items were allegedly stolen.

SPS reports that on November 30, 2024, SPS Frontline officers responded to a report of a break-in at a residence in Surrey’s Newton neighborhood. The SPS Prolific Offender Unit, with assistance from Richmond RCMP, quickly identified a potential suspect and managed to recover several of the stolen items from the residence. Investigators further executed a search warrant in Richmond on January 28, 2025, recovering additional property believed to be stolen by police.

Authorities confirmed that on July 9, 2025, the BC Prosecution Service approved six charges against 30-year-old Nicky Yuk Bun Law in connection with the incident.

  • Possession of stolen property over $5000 (2 counts)
  • Trafficking in stolen property (1 count)
  • Possession of property for the purpose of trafficking (1 count)
  • Possession of break-in instruments (1 count)

Nicky Law is currently out of custody and his next court appearance is scheduled for July 16, 2025, at 9:00 am in Surrey Provincial Court.
